A quick set of care instructions for high-carbon steel knifes.
Care
Follow these tips to keep your knife at its best condition:
- Hand-wash your knife with soap and warm water right after use and dry it completely with a soft towel.
- Apply food grade mineral oil after each use to prevent it from rusting.
- Store your knife using a magnetic knife strip or a wooden knife block. Use knife sheaths to protect the blades if you are keeping your knives in a drawer.
- Sharpen your knife by hand once it lost its edge. Whetstones are most recommended to revive a sharp blade.
NOTE: Knives made of high-carbon steel will get patina with time and use no matter what. It's the way the steel reacts and adapts to the environment and protects itself from rust. Think of this dark shield your blade wears as a reward of time. That will give your knife a unique character and help tell its personal history.
